Units per Case changes in product life cylce

In our industry the number of units per case can change very frequently in the life cycle of a product. We have extensive parameters setup per product and do not want to have to create a new product just because the case was changed from 12 to 24.

Are there any suggestions on how we can track the UOM changes. We realise that this practice is not recommended in a pristine JDE but we believe the benefits will outweigh in this case.
