Oracle DB upgrade & Migration from Oracle 11g RAC on Linux to Oracle 19c RAC Linux

Hello All,

We have a project to upgrade and migrate a customer database from Oracle 11.2.0.4 RAC on RHEL (Source Server) to Oracle 19c RAC on RHEL (Target Server)

The DB size is around 1.5 TB and is a critical govt. database.

I have been thinking of various strategies and thinking of going with the following approach:

  1. Install Oracle 11g RAC RDBMS s/w only on the Target Server.
  2. Take Level 0 backup from Source Server and Restore in Target Server with Oracle 11g RAC env.
  3. On the GO-LIVE day, take Incremental backup and Restore & Recover in Target Server with Oracle 11g RAC env and Open the DB
