Self Service and Geographic Pref pages in Career Planning Set Up (HCM9.2)

We are busy implementing Career and Succession Planning, and while we were going through the setup pages we've noticed a Self Service Parameters page and a Geographic Preference page. I have been doing searches in PeopleBooks and Google, and I cannot find more information on what the purpose of these pages are.

Where is this set up used? Also, I've noticed a check box on the Self Service Parameters page with a label of Enterprise Learning Management. We are currently using ELM, and one of my concerns are how we will select the ELM Program information from Career Planning. This check box have given me a bit of hope, but since it's under self service, I think my hope is a bit misplaced.
