Issues performing in-place upgrade from 6.10 to 7.6

Hi wondering if someone can help/guide ?

doing an in place upgrade on OEL6.10 to 7.6 (7.6 as its the limit of the upgrade tool oracle provide)

Now i am aware a fresh install is best , but i would still like to get it working in place if possible.

After going through preupg checks etc the install took place.It boots to splash screen then drops out to dracut shell.

The kernel it seems is unable to see the vg and pv groups, but i can see they are still there see below. I tried to activate the inactive ones but get no where. removing lvm.conf and rebuilding initramfs didnt work either as some of the commands are not available to rebuild.
