Asset Management : ASSET_CLASS Interface tables

What is the logic behind the asset class before it enters AM (Interface tables) . I would expect this to be driven by the default in the PROFILE TBL. However we are seeing in Interface tables ASSET class that does not equal to the profile id setup. I do not see where it could be changed online in the interface tables - thus my question is what is the logic for transloader?
