11g Forms Support on Google Chrome version 49+

This article Running Forms in Edge browser (Doc ID 2734287.1) suggests support for 11g Forms from version 29+, but starting around version 49 the NPAPI plugin has been completely removed from Chrome, so how is 11g Forms still supported on Chrome? Can anyone advise if this article is still valid?
