How should a retirement of an asset that is at the customer's location (Issue to Field Location)?

Scenario: A serialized asset was shipped to a customer location using SOURCE_TXN_TYPE_NAME = 'Issue to Field Location'.

We understand that when the asset is in a physical warehouse of the company, the process to be followed to retire the asset is through inventories. By doing this, the retirement is reflected in FA.

However, what should be the process to retire an asset that is in a customer location and for which an inventory movement would not apply?

I appreciate all your support to clarify this doubt.
