Oracle 18 Single Instance DB and ASM with Restart on Raw Device?

Hello all,

I have a single instance database with ASM using Oracle Restart. Database/Grid ver. 11.2 running on Solaris SPARC 64 ver 10.

I now have all patches in place to upgrade DB/Grid to version 18 with ultimate goal of upgrading to version 19 (after O/S upgrade to Solaris 11). It just occurred to me that our ASM instance is on raw device storage with two partitions. All datafiles (+DATA partition) and recovery files (+RECO partition) are stored on our ASM.

I have reviewed a few documents now, that indicate "Block or raw devices are not supported by OUI or DBCA" and that "Shared disk partitions (block devices or raw devices) can not be used for "OCR and Voting Files, Oracle Clusterware Binaries, Oracle RAC Database Binaries, Oracle RAC Database Data Files, Oracle RAC Database Recovery Files".

Howdy, Stranger!
