Safest Oracle Linux 6 kernel version

Hi all, long time reader first time poster.

TLDR: What's the safest kernel to run on our OEL6 hosts?

Full Version:

We have some legacy OEL6 hosts on our network that we've been pushing to migrate software off of and retire but are still supporting for the time being. Some of these host are running kernel version 2.6.32-754.31.1.el6.x86_64. A few of them have been upgraded to version 4.1.12-124.24.3.el6uek.x86_64.

Also, we do run ksplice/uptrack in our environment but I'm under the impression that ksplice/uptrack isn't even patching 2.6 at this point.

Should we be upgrading our 2.6 kernels to 4+ to minimize vulnerabilities?
