Running UEK on Oracle Database VMware guests locks power state in vCenter

Whenever we have used the UEK in our Linux Oracle VMs running Oracle (from versions 11g to 19) we eventually get a system lockup that crashes our ability to power cycle the VM from the VMware vCenter console. Sometimes we can migrate to another ESXi host and manage to get it "unstuck" but the only solution that has worked for us since 2015 has been to change grub to be sure we NEVER use the UEK's on our Linux VMs .

Does anyone else have this issue?
