asm vs file system for EBS and dataware house on oci

We are moving to OCI.

Now the question is asm or file system? Nobody can show me performance bench marks.

It seems like more work for not much benefit.

What is the point of fancy san's if they don't do a job and you have to rely on asm to do it?

Can anyone tell me the reasons to use asm?

My sysadmin say's the Oracle is going to ASM and it's the new thing. Is that true? It's been around for a long time. How is it better suddenly with today's modern sans?
