RMAN backups - Catalog vs No Catalog

What are the pros and cons of moving from the catalog RMAN backup to no catalog or controlfile based backups?

In the case of a DR situation, you will have to restore catalog DB before you can start restoring the actual database. Are there any real benefits apart from centralized backup file metadata of multiple databases in a single one?
