Cycle Count next count date - If that date is missed, will that field ever receive a new date?

We have 9.2 R22. When we do cycle counts, we always select today as the date to count. First thing in the morning, do the counts and update complete then start the day's business. Last week we missed a day and the items were not counted. Will that next count date remain on that item/location combination until all product is sold out? Would the system recognize that it was not counted and move it forward? Is there a job we can run to update that field to a future date? it is advanced warehouse but I do not know if
