Is there any documentation on XML vs JSON formatting when using Orchestrator Studio?

I have been using the Orchestrator for awhile and have always performed my integrations using JSON. I have several vendors stating how they only use XML for their integrations. We have had great success using JSON and are curious if Oracle has any documentation about limitations/performance when using the Studio with JSON or XML.

Is there any such documentation?
