Is there a way to decrease the cost of a returned sales item?

We have a need to decrease the cost of a returned sales item, where the original cost is 15, however, depending on the condition of that item, we may want it costed at 10 when the return is received. Is there a way to complete this without updating the original cost of the item.

We are in R12.2.4.
