External server for OeBS attachments

We store attachments as LOB files in a database. Our database size is about 2 TB. And attachments take about 1.5 TB. Saving files to a database is very resource hog and the database grows extensively. Making backups takes a very long time.

Is it possible to add attachment into OeBS but save it to a different server (some external file server), not a database server?
