Using Hot Backup to Recover to a new Windows Server.

In a situation where a new server has to be created to host a replace a broken production server. Question I have is the steps for recovering our production server database on a new host.  Can I use the files saved in our hot backup?

We tested our cold backups for a situation where we had catastrophic problems on an existing production (like) server, but I am wondering the additional steps which would need to be taken from a new server Windows server.

What I think what would be needed is to:

1) Ensure the server name is the same as what the old production system had.
