PUM 43/TUP 22-C: Issues Encountered with Quick Calculation - Cause?

PS 9.2 Demo database with Tools 8.55:

Application of all Classic Patches for 34111454 has been verified as applied to the demo database along with all object changes for related PUM 43 and TUP 22-C updates as documented by Oracle.

When testing the 'Payroll Message' process using the demo database: 2 checks were calculated: separate check 0: calculated without error; separate check 1 went to an error status for message 000366 for negative net. The 'Calculate' button on the page is not disabled as illustrated in the PUM 43 PeopleBooks for this scenario (included with .pdf attached). When clicking on the enabled 'Calculate' button, a system error is thrown causing a lock to be generated based on a remote program PSPPYRUN failure. See the attached .pdf.
