Exadata and Vulnerability Scanning

We have on premise Exadata systems.  Given that Exadata is an engineered system are we allowed to Run Vulnerability Scans such as a Nessus Security Scan. Those scans would require the addition of a Operating System user beyond software owners Grid and Oracle. Curious about best practices regarding Vulnerability scanning on Exadata.
