Updating .env (Environment files) in Enterprise Manager vs Physical File in 12C

Hi,

I am wanting to understand why, when making changes to a physical .env file, it does not reflect when going into EM, however, if I make a file of the same name and save the changes, it clobbers my existing file.

So in essence, if I have an existing file, I go into EM, there is nothing there .. so I configure to create one, but this one does not relate to my physical one and seems to just create a new one completely from scratch.

This has made it hard to work out whether I should make a conscious decision to only update the .env file physically, or to only ever do in EM, but really don't understand why they do not sync.
