setting attributes for Hardware Assisted Resilient Data (HARD) initiative

a recent review shows we have two environments where exachk reports:

One or more diskgroup attributes are not set to enable Hardware Assisted Resilient Data (HARD) capability

it further states that two attributes are not set for this: content.check TRUE ; hidden attribute hard_check.enabled TRUE

the update process for these seems fairly straightforward BUT what is impact of setting these, will it require downtime and/or have any time required to update/modify systems for them to take effect. will there be any impact on performance
