Recommend procedure to upgrade Oracle RAC 12c to 19c with Data Guard DB,

I am trying to determine the best method (and my definition of best method mean, least amount of downtime, like zero downtime) of upgrading our 2 node RAC database with single node Data Guard failover machine. I'm looking for an Oracle white paper on the recommended method.

The method I see the most is break DG upgrade RAC ...

My worry is when I upgraded a different RAC db it took 4 days and 2 SR's to upgrade the RAC DB. (We had corrupt filesystems, corrupt records, dbf files on acfs)
