Can an Affected Item be removed from an ECR after status is completed?

We have an old ECR in our system where we would like to remove a duplicate Affected Item. Is that something that is possible in Agile PLM? Or is the system designed in a way where that is not possible.

We did find a way to do it by changing the workflow to move the ECR back to the step before complete and we were able to remove it and then "re-complete" it. But we were more curious if there was a way to do this in the completed status.
