How to link a Hardware item to a service item in a sales order?

Hi all,

we are trying to create contract through a sales order. For that we need to link a Hardware item to a Service item through the means of 'Service Reference Line No' in the service tab of the sales order.

But i am not able to input the line number there. Is there any setup that needs to be done for this?
