How to exclude items in a subinventory from appearing in Onhand quantity

For an existing subinventory, is it possible to exclude items in the subinventory from appearing in the onhand quantity? I was exploring unchecking nettable checkbox in material status control setup but this is non-updatable if the subinventory has onhand quantity.

Is there any other approach to achieve this?
