How to calculate Regular Rate of pay for Meal Periods for California
This is for US legislation.
We are trying to accurately calculate the Regular Rate of Pay for Meal Periods for California employees as per the regulation -
Our employees are in a Bi-Weekly payroll. As per our payroll team, the Regular Rate of Pay needs to be calculated as below.
Example -
Week 1 Earnings - $200
Week 1 Hours - 10 hours
Lets say 1 hour of Meal period to be paid in 1st week.
Week 2 Earnings - $300
Week 2 Hours - 10 hours
Lets also assume 1 hour of Meal period to be paid in 2nd week.
Regular Rate of Pay for meal period for Week 1 = $200/10 = $20 per hour
