Manual Credit checking for orders after a booking

We need to place orders on credit hold after booking in certain cases.

1) Is there a way to Manually place an order on credit hold after booking or is the credit hold always automatically placed by the credit check process?

2) Is there a way to manually trigger a credit check after booking (without updating the order itself -i.e., not changing order amount, payment terms etc)
