Upgrade ODA 12.2 (Virtualized Platform) to ODA 19.17 using Standby-First upgrade method

Proposed Upgrade Plan

• Upgrade ODA to latest 19.17 KVM and DB Systems platform
• Upgrade using Data Preserving Reprovisioning (reimaging directly to latest release).
• Huge Downtime required since no rolling option for this upgrade.
• Upgrade Standby First and switchover to Standby to reduce Downtime.
• Switch back to old Primary (ODA) after ODA upgrade.

Concerns

=======

1) Does upgrade from 12.1 to 19c base version supports Data Guard First installation and Switchover?

• While 19.17 patch is Standby-First installable, however we are not sure about 12c to 19c base upgrade.
