Deleting BOM and Routing When Changing Stocking Type from M to P

Currently using JDE E1 v8.12 for manufacturing and and product costing (among other modules), but currently using a 3rd party system interfaced to JDE for DRP and MRP planning purposes (we do not use JDE planning systems, but may in the future). Targeting an upgrade project to JDE E1 v9.2, and challenging some of our current business practices.

We currently choose to keep the BOM history and simply change the stocking type, when an item changes from a make to a purchased item. As the cost simulation and roll-up programs ignore the BOM and Routing, product costs are not affected.
