Fluid Workcenter- How to Set the initial starting page on the right hand side?

We have created a new fluid workcenter by creating our own version of the component provided for replication to create fluid WC.

We have registered and set security to all our new content references, and components as well as configured the settings for the workcenter under enterprise components configure pagelets.

My issue is I cannot get a page to automatically open as the "default" start page on the right hand side. Users are having to click a page name from the left hand nav to get anything to populate on the right hand work area. Any advice would be appreciated.
