F4201.OTOT Order Amount Calculation

How is the OTOT field in F4201 calculated? It seems backorders and future commits may impact whether or not a line is included in the calculation, but I cannot quite figure out what the pattern is.

I've been moving dates and backorder status on order lines and re-running R42995 to update OTOT, but I cannot seem to get a consistent pattern I can discern on what the field value is to get a good handle on how it is designed/what it should be.
