/u01 on local raid array or lun?

Hi everyone!!


Im posting this question because one of my customers has the /u01 filesystem hosting the ORACLE_HOME outside the box, inside a LUN exported from a fc storage attached to the host and i never saw an installation with this kind of configuration for oracle binaries.


my question is, is this right or wrong?


from my perspective as an infrastructure admin, this is wrong because if i have a issue with the FC PORT, FC CABLE, HBA, Transceiver, San switch or anything releated with the connection to the LUN, the database will go down and i'll not have access to the home to see the problem, restart the instance or anything like that... but i want to have an expert answer or at least someone who have more experience than me to solve this doubt.
