How does the balance table handle an offcycle check?

How does the balance tables handle an offcycle check? The reason I ask is, I have a pay end date that is within balance period 6 (April - June), quarter 2. The check date is 6/16/2022. The earning is posted to the July 2022, quarter 3 balance table. why would it not be posted to period 6 - June 2022, quarter 2?
