Do we need to implement Depot Repair module?

We are trying to create a global standard for different processes in our ERP system, which is EBS R12. Most sites are already in the Order Management and Finance modules along with inventory/pricing. The question is related to Depot Repair. Do we really need to implement the Depot Repair module? Or we can use Order Management (RMA and Shipping), an independent non-standard WIP job (to carry out the repair execution and costing). In that way, we can save licensing cost of the Depot Repair module and also the implementation cost. The only thing we need to do is to interface
