BP Auto Creation - Assignee/Creator

Why is it that for some Auto Generated records, we are able to select Groups, and others, only Users? The creation step assignee have Groups Assigned and we would rather assign a group than an individual user. Is there a way to toggle between the two? The field is currently greyed out.
