Defaulting rule created using pre-transformation rule or OM extension is supported by Rest API?

Wanted to default values for order header and line EFF based on the order source type. I think this can be done either using pre-transformation rule or OM extension when orders are manually created using UI. However, would like to understand if defaulting using pre-transformation rule or OM extension can also be supported when orders are created using FBDI or REST APIs salesOrdersForOrderHub. If anyone has come across this, then kindly provide input.
