Newbie question on initial load

I am very new to GoldenGate after our support guy just retired after 30 years I ended up with it, so understand I am very inexperienced with GoldenGate.

I got the GG new instance up and working on Friday, however, because the export/import tool takes 13 hours to export and import the data, once I start the replicat we are at a minimum 13hours behind. The Database produces about 500G logs a day shown in v$log_history. I had oracle support looking into this and the SR shows as the technician stated the DB really didn’t look bad but GG had so many large transactions to get processed thru to the target, it kept getting further and further behind until on Sunday we ended up 60+ hours behind, when
