RXTX Serial Library Crashes JVM with XStore 17
We are running Store 17.0.5 and are attempting to update Java 8 to update u361, released on January 17th, 2023. The reason for the Java update is to be current with critical security updates to the Java runtime system. When attempting to load XStore on a JVM using Java 8 u361, the RXTX Serial Communication library crashes the JVM by throwing an exception from the rxtxSerial.dll layer. The library is distributed as part of the XStore release package.
This appears to be a known issue with the RXTX library. Research on the internet indicates that the library does not load under any version of Java 8 past u251 (released April 14th, 2020). The RXTX Library has not been supported since 2007.
