Use Cycle Count for Physical Inventory

Is there any reason why we can't use the standard cycle count process for a physical inventory? We'd rather not use the tag process associated to the standard physical inventory process.

I'd think that we'd be able to just select the entire branch in the data selection instead of just a specific location.

We are on 9.2 apps and tools.
