How to generate a lot number using a custom hook in oracle EBS R12.2.5?

We have a requirement, where-in we need to define a logic that the system should use to generate the lot number. We don't want to go through form personalizations as that would involve customizations across various forms.

So we wanted to know if there is a custom hook which can be utilizied to define a logic for generation of lot numbers.
