ECC - Is it possible to call External Webservice from within ECC?

We have a requirement show details of orders in Orders Dashboard along with status of that order from different sysetms as it flows through different systems throughout it's lifecycle from creation to fulfillment to invoicing. We need to answer where is my order question from multiple stake holders. What we saw that ECC Order Dashboard shows the details of orders from Oracle ECC Data-sets populated from EBS tables.

Question - Can we invoke external web service from ECC and display the results in a Pop-up?

Please help us.
