Patching ODA While Database is Online

in Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) (MOSC) 4 commentsAnswered ✓

We are preparing to patch our x8-2s ODA to version 19.18 from 19.17. To reduce the patching window, we are considering running the following commands while the database is online for users. Is this safe to do? It appears that none of these commands shut down the database or reboot the server. Other than contention for resource usage like CPU, disk I/O, is there any risk of affecting users?

update-repository, update-dcsadmin, update-dcsagent, create-prepatchreport, describe-prepatchreport.

At this point we would wait to run update-server since this command reboots the server and would affect users.
