Can the Installbase/asset groups be mass created?

in Install Base and Asset Tracking - EBS (MOSC) Question

We have to load create thousands of IB groups for converted subscriptions. Is there a way to mass create IB groups.

Then we would need to assign installbase records to all those groups. Installbase (asset) records are also converted records without converting the original sales orders.
