Base Preference resolution dates on sales orders

dear support

my client is running JDE 9.2

we make use of base preference 08 (grade and potency)

we have activated effective dates

it's unclear on documentation on which sales order line dates the system checks the validity of the preference.

after testing , looks like for pref 08 the system checks the validity against 'Promise delivery date' on the SO line

. is it the same rule for all base prefs?

. is it the same rule for all advanced prefs also?

. is there a comprehensive documentation on the prefs effective dates?
