manual SSH configuration in x8-2 HA

We have x8-2 HA configured with 19.6. We found recently ssh not configured and whenever logon other node from one node it is asking password. But when we can able to create database instances are being created on both the nodes.

We would like to know is it mandatory to configure ssh manually. If we are not configuring ssh will it be a problem during patching or upgrade.
