How to Clone ECC without bringing down servers during backup.sh script?

Product: E-Business Suite version 12.2.11 with ECC V9 installed.

EBS source system does not need to be shutdown during preclone process, how come it is not possible to run the $ECC_BASE/Oracle/quickInstall/backup.sh without bringing down eccManaged ?

It is inconvenient to need downtime on a PROD system for cloning purposes.
