PO approval

Hi,

we don't want the order to go to approval route direct after creation we have certain conditions on which order should go to different approval routes.

can we keep approval route blank during order creation and update it on later stage to a approval route code on the PO header and it will send the PO to that route?

or is it mandatory that approval routes should be there during creation. we cannot add them at later stage.
