Can we use IP address instead of \\servername\printername in SF Valid Registers page

We are using Peoplesoft Campus solution 9.2 with PUM #28 , Peopletools 8.58.21 in Windows 2016 servers, we are doing the network upgrades, so we are in the process of removing the printer servers, and we are looking for a way to use just ip address instead of  \\servername\printername in the following page,

Set Up SACR > Product Related > Student Financials > Cashiering > Valid Registers

when I test this , it did not work. Will Oracle-Peoplesoft support this functionality , or do we have to enter the printer name as  \\servername\printername on the "Server Destination Printer" field. please guide.
