Inactive assignment appear in LOV for transaction controls

When assigning employee to transaction control on specific task, I might see 3-4 lines in the LOV. For instance, I do a search for %Baxter%. The pop-up window shows 3-4 lines for William Baxter, all with the same employee number, but each having a different person_id which represents a previous role/assignment with the company. Only ONE line is expected - the line associated with his most recent assignment.
