Change Serial At Receipt option to Predefined, while the items are already issued to the WIP Job

We have WIP Jobs created that has say 6 as start quantities and each assembly requires 1 component to complete. We issued 6 Components to the job and completed resulting in 6 unique Assembly serial numbers.

When we view the genealogy, each parent assembly serial number has 6 specific component serial number assigned instead of just 1. This happens as we could not assign specific component serial number to the completed assembly because the option used was Serial At Receipt instead of Predefined.

Question is can we have a fix where we can assign each individual component to its specific Assembly serial number and avoid the Cartesian product?
